About this Blog

I didn’t plan on this. I grew up in New Jersey, surrounded by Yankee fans. I didn’t intend to support the Red Sox and drive most of my family, friends, and co-workers crazy . . . . ok, that’s a lie. What began years ago as an attempt to aggravate and annoy all of those front-running Yankee bandwagoners with a light-hearted rooting for their archenemy quickly turned into one of the most passionate and frustrating of all of my relationships: my love for the Boston Red Sox. Red Sox fans are some of the most eternally miserable creatures in the baseball world (outmiseried only by Chicago Cubs fans), and with good reason. Even with the 2004 World Championship (and the unforgettable feat of the 2004 ALCS victory), the Yankees always loom large in our psyches. A contrarian at heart, I have to admit that I love living in the backyard of the enemy.

This blog is a place for logging thoughts about life, baseball, and the daily antagonisms that make them both so interesting. Thanks for checking it out! – Stephanie

I’m pretty sure I once called you a contrarian and your reply was “I am NOT”…or something in that spirit.

So, I moving to outside Philly. Can the phillies replace the cubs as my national league team? As it is now, I barely pay attention to the senior circuit. Your thoughts?

I like the blog. You have a way with words, missy.

Would love to see a list of Sox bars. I know of the Riviera in Sheridan Square and Sophie’s around 3rd and 3rd.

I moved here in ‘84 and have never changed my Sox.
